Final Championship points will be ready
later in the week after queries have been checked.
The day dawned bright and sunny with the
MX track nicely damp for the start of racing and the Youths 1 1/2 hour race
.
Then the adults got off to an exciting
start with a few classes having trouble at the first right hand bend. A few
riders went down but were soon off and racing again.
Some high flying action on the MX track
was followed by a blast across the moor and then over the stile. Then
came "the BOG". Only a short section of mud but enough to get a couple of
riders stuck.. There were also some dusty stubble sections where you
could get a good high speed blast.
The toughest ride of the day was Nigel
Love who fought a massive KTM 690 adventure bike round for 5 laps. At
least he took the panniers off !
At the end of the day James Lindsay was
the only rider on 10 laps to take the Expert win. Evergreen Richard Hay
after a slow start was the fastest lapping rider at the end of the race to
take 2nd . Greg Gallagher after a flying start was 3rd.
Danny McLean was the sole Expert B
with a great 8 laps
Johnathan Macintosh lead the Over 40's
with most riders putting in 8 laps. David Pearce was 2nd with Steven
Anderson just behind in 3rd.
In the Clubman class Connor Paton put in
an impressive ride with 9 laps and was pushed hard all day by Lee Disbury in
2nd and Jordan Christie in 3rd.
Clubman B was won by Nick Jones with
Andrew Watt ( stuck in 2nd/ 3rd gear for most of the day) just 1
minute behind for 2nd. Dylan Scott continues to improve with a fine 3rd
place.
The Over 50's continued to showcase the
experience of mature riders with James Harvey on 9 laps but chased all day
by Ian Bisset also on 9 laps . Gary Reid in 3rd on 8 laps.
Daniel Watson lead the Sportsman home on
8 laps with Lewis Kennedy keeping him honest all day for 2nd and Archie
Simpson also on 8 laps in 3rd.
Sportsman Vets over 50 was won by Kenny
Norrie on a rare outing but showing he still has the speed. Andrew Bernard
took 2nd and David Clark 3rd.
Lucy Storey the only lady rider out
finished a fine 5th .
The Gentleman Racers Over 60 class was
won by "Ze Duck" Alasdair Anderson ahead of Gary Williamson with both riders
on 6 laps . John Kerwin had a long drive North but had to retire.
It was a tough day for all the riders
with numerous mechanical problems. Some riders only had 2nd gear (later 3rd
gear) and others had no clutch or rear brakes - but they all carried
on.
Enduro riders never stop.
A big thank you to the Highland Club for
all their efforts in putting on the event.
And a thank you to all the clubs who put
on events throughout the year - all your efforts are much appreciated. And a
thank you to the SACU for the live timing system run all year by Sandy
Mack.
Finally a thank you to all the riders and
support crew who travel all over the country to make the sport one of
the best in the country.
