Blue skies and green fields greeted the
riders as they returned to Glendearg Farm after seven year absence . A
classic event and sure to test the riders over a flowing course.
Moors, the odd wee boggy bit then on to
hills with a big jump and then the quarry hill and chicken run. But
the chicken run was just about as hard and plenty of feet were spotted
getting to the top.
A big thank you to the farmer and family
who helped set up the course and helped out on the day.
With the Experts putting in 12 laps it
was a fast 2 1/2 hours of intense racing with no real area to rest. Expert
Andrew Bisset took the win with Cai Hewitt only 4 minutes behind in 2nd and
Richard Hay a further 20 seconds behind. A long lap and all at high speed.
Alex Owen took the win in the Over 40's
with Darren Cousins just behind in 2nd and great to see regular Mark Ritchie
back in action in 3rd.
Jordan Christie stayed ahead of the pack
for the win in Clubman being pressed hard all day by Oliver Macintyre for
2nd with Angus Hamilton only 1/2 sec back for third. Doesn't get much closer
!
In Clubman B Dylan Scott continued his
wining ways with 1st just ahead of Matthew Scott with John Weir just 7 secs
back in 3rd.
With the very experienced riders of the
over 50 class pushing all day it was a triumphant James Harvey who took
today's honours after being chased all day by Neil Dawson in 2nd and
evergreen Iain Bisset in 3rd.
In The Sportsman class Lee Halliday was
the only rider on 11 laps to take the win followed by Sean Gunn on 10 laps
with Harley Drinnan 3rd also on 10 laps.
The over 50 Vets class was won by Alan
Strachan on 10 laps ahead of James Johnston on 9 laps and David Purves 3rd
also on 9 laps.
In the Vets over 60 John Kerwin again
made the long trip up from across the border for the win on 10 laps with
Phil Hewitt 2nd on 9 laps and Bill Bruce 3rd on 9 laps. The Gentleman Racers
still pushing hard.
A Big Thank You to Andy Thomson and the
Scottish Borders club for another great days racing - a lot of effort and
time goes in to these events - very much appreciated.
