The Bon Accord MCC celebrate their 70th
Anniversary this year and put on a magnificent Enduro to welcome riders.
Ross Fisher and his team set out a
testing 20 mile lap in Drumtochty Forest with a one mile special test . The
course ran through steep forest up and down hills and firebreaks
These were linked with sections of forest
road to the far end of the forest. The special test started from the Pits
area and went straight up the side of a steep hill between close packed
trees. Then out onto a forest road before going back into the trees and down
rough firebreaks to the road before a final fast track into trees and then
down a steep descent with a tricky exit to the test end.
With a great entry of over 90 riders and
a large field of expert class riders it was a testing and long day for the
riders and marshalls .
Thanks to the club for all their efforts
to put on the event - involving over a years work with the forestry to gain
access and set out the course.
Thanks also to the SACU for providing the
modern timing and results system used throughout the season and run all year
by Sandy Mack.
In the Expert class Cai Hewitt took the
win ahead of hard charging Richard Hay setting consistently fastest times
all day. James Lindsay pushed for 3rd place.
Stevie Durrand was the lone Expert B
rider with some quick times all day.
In the Over 40's Alex Pringle was 1st
ahead of Liam Matheson and a highly competitive Mitchell Brown in 3rd. Derek
Little chasing a title was 4th
Clubman ace Robert Graham pushed hard for
the win with Steven Currie Jnr very close behind. Jamie Douglas made the
long trip from over the border to get a well deserved 3rd place.
The experienced riders of the Over 50
class continued to push all day with James Harvey emerging victorious with
Steven Currie Snr taking another family 2nd and Dean Barr right behind in
3rd.
Clubman B is turning into a proving
ground for upcoming young riders with Maceij Dwornik taking another win
ahead of season long rivals John Weir in 2nd and Dylan Scott in 3rd.
Lewis Kennedy lead the Sportsman home
ahead of Sean Gunn and the only lady rider on the course young Holly Dennis
in 3rd.
Sportsman Vets over 50 is another
competitive class for Senior riders with Alan Strachan taking a well
deserved win just ahead of Neil McGregor and Mike Glass in 3rd. Nice to see
Lindsay Rae back on a bike for a change and managed a great 5th
The Gentlemen Racers class of Vets over
60 was won by Andrew Flockhart after a battle withformer MX ace Davie Hill.
Phil Hewitt continues push hard and took 3rd place.
A hard fought end to another great season
of racing - and a bit thank you to all the clubs and officials who put in so
much effort to make it all happen.
Championship points later in the week once all queries have been
reviewed.
