Dawn to Dusk 2009 - Scots win Pro class - Expert Ironman and Youth race.

Scottish Riders perform at Dawn to Dusk !!

d2ddf.jpg (66066 bytes) The Scottish riders were once again at the top of their classes at the Dawn to Dusk 2009. It was looking good on Saturday when Fraser Flockhart from North Berwick won the Youth 2 hour race setting the standard for the Scottish contingent. Last years winners Derek Little and Fraser Norrie won the 24 hour 2 man team award although they were disappointed to just miss out on the overall win. The Youth and Experience Team led for much of the day until Derek had to change his rear wheel. In the 12 hour race Neil Chatham led the field on the first lap ahead of Si Wakely until the extreme rock section caught him out. ‘Si had a crash with a 24 hour rider and I got passed and he followed me until I had a get off in the extreme rock section’. ‘The Bing Bashers,’ Allyn Scotland and Neil Chatham eventually coming third in the 12 hour two man team class. ‘We were sitting in a good second place until Neil’s bike became waterlogged and we finished the race sharing my 250’, said Allyn afterwards. James Harvey won the Expert 12 hour Ironman title despite also having water problems, ‘my bike kept cutting out making me crash for about three laps until it cleared and made it to the finish, it had rained all day so it was not surprising to have some problems. I drove home and went straight to work so it will probably all catch up with me tomorrow’.

Mark Ritchie and Duncan McCormick came third in the 12 Hour 2 Man event.
